Back from the beach
Our weekend went pretty well, all things considered. We drove to the Choptank River on the eastern shore of Maryland to go sailing. All week long we've checked the weather reports, and should have been fine...but no, we drove through the rain almost all the way there. So, for a while we sat in the gazebo at the yacht club and finally decided it had stopped enough to venture onto the boat. We all get on, and immediately go down below since the rain decided to pick up once again. Now, my mil and I are very similar in this, in that our husbands ADORE sailing, and we're along to make them very happy and we both get horribly seasick when we're down in the bottom of the boat where we don't get enough fresh air. This time was no exception, since Erik and his dad motored out for a while to see if it would stop enough to put the sails up. Then, we anchored for lunch, and mil had to eat up top even though she got soaked doing so. I just ate really slowly. We gave up and motored back to the slip, probably just in time for it to finally quit for good lol.
After the no-go on sailing, we drove to St. Michael's where MIL and I walked around shopping for some nautical type items for one of the bathrooms in their soon to be new house. We didn't find much of anything that we wanted right then, so we walked back to the playground with FIL and picked up the kids and Erik at the playground. Then it was time for some yummy crabs. Karisma and Rane had a blast cracking open the first couple and eating the meat they found inside, but they quickly lost interest and we ordered them hot dogs. After dinner, the inlaws had to return home and the rest of us went to Mardela Springs to stay at a friend's loft. Got a good nights sleep and headed to the beach on Sunday with ugly cloudy skies following us until just as we got there. We parked and found a nice spot on the sand with gorgeous blue skies overhead, and some of the coolest waves I've ever seen though. Due to mother nature messing around with me again, I did not get to go body surfing this trip and that was tough...but it was fun just playing with the kids in the sand, only to have our creations disappear with the incoming wave. That was really the whole fun of it. We ended the morning by getting some yummy boardwalk fries and some homemade candy, and heading home. We had every intention of going to church after resting for an hour, but we were so exhausted, it didn't happen. So, that was our weekend :) Hoping to get back to the beach at the end of September or early October. School starts for the kids in one week, so stay tuned! :)

So funny to hear about you "motoring to the slip" and other really foreign-sounding things. (to me anyway! LOL) Sounds like you all are having a blast and enjoying the beach. Hope everything is going well!
:) hehehe. Yeah, been sailing for 8 years now...but don't really talk about it much lol. Not really my thing, but gotta keep my hubby happy lol. Glad to know someone reads my stuff! :)
